ObservationofanomalouspimodesinFloquettopologicalphotonicsanditsapplicationtonon-adiabaticelimination

RecentprogressesonFloquettopologicalphaseshaveshednewlightontime-dependentquantumsystems,whichexhibitsignificantlydifferentstroboscopicbehaviorsfromtheirstaticcounterparts,suchastheemergenceofanomalousFloquettopologicalphases(i.e.,pimodes)inone-dimensional(1D)Floquetsystems.However,toourknowledgesofar,experimentalobservationoftheseexotictopologicalmodeshasneverbeenreported.Inthiswork,byperiodicallybendingultra-thinmetallicmicrowavearraysofcoupledcorrugatedwaveguides,wesuccessfullyrealizedaphotonicversionoftheperiodically-driven1DSu-Schrieffer-Heegermodel.Throughtheoreticalcalculations,numericalsimulationsandexperimentalmeasurements,weobservedtheFloquet-engineeredtopologicalpimodesemergingatcertaindrivingconditionsandpropagatingalongthearray’sboundary.Especially,thedrivingconditionsofFloquet-engineeredtopologicalpimodesarethetypicalcharacteristicsfor‘topologicalFloquetengineering’.Thedependencesofthedrivingfrequenciesandtheinitialinputpositions(i.e.,Floquetgauges)areobservedexperimentallyatthenon-adiabatictransitionbetweentheextremelyslowly-drivinglimitandinfinitelyhigh-frequencylimitinourphotonicFloquetsystem,whichhaven’tbeenwidelynoticedforthephysics
